Why Choose Me As Your Wedding Officiant?

The Backstory

I got into the wedding officiating profession almost by accident. A friend of mine asked me in June 2015 to marry her and her fiance. Having a background in high-tech marketing, seminar leading and consulting, I told her that I knew nothing about marrying people! Since she was insistent, I went online and found what I think is the best source for online ordinations and became a minister authorized to perform weddings in Oregon and Washington.

My first time officiating a wedding!

The wedding was huge and formal: 300 guests, 7 bridesmaids, 7 groomsmen, a ring bearer and two flower girls in a huge beautiful room at Portland’s Sentinel (then Governor) hotel! A true “trial by fire” with no room for error!

Since I wanted to do this first ceremony without embarrassing myself and severely disappointing my friend Lily, I went to work on learning how to perform a ceremony as perfectly as possible. I took the courses on the Universal Life Church Monastery website, watched a bunch of weddings on YouTube, and then created a first draft script and vows that she and I refined so that the ceremony met all of her needs, wants, and desires.

Then, based on my public speaking and worldwide seminar experience, I took the next, and perhaps most critical step needed to ensure a successful performance: I practiced, practiced, and practiced until I could visualize the ceremony order and elements coming off as perfectly as possible. She loved how it went and I found that I loved doing it. Thus my new calling became a reality. Lily recommended me to several of her friends and I performed 15 weddings in 2015. I discovered the various wedding vendor marketing websites and increased to 45 weddings performed in 2016, 90 in 2017, and 80+ for this year. Plus I have more than a dozen on the books for 2019!

I love my clients. I enjoy meeting with them to go over the details of their weddings and calming their fears about how the ceremony will go. I love customizing their scripts so that the ceremonies are warm, captivating, and memorable. And I think that it’s safe to say that my clients love me based on the many 5-star reviews that I’ve received over the years.

Wedding officiating is my only business now. And I’d love to marry you and your fiance! Contact me today to see if I’m available on your chosen date. I look forward to meeting — and marrying — you (and your fiance, of course!).

And Today…

Congratulations on your engagement! I’m available to answer your questions about everything from getting your marriage license to changing your name after the ceremony (if you plan to do so!).

My forte is great communication. I go out of my way to be available to my couples from the first contact through post-ceremony paperwork completion.

“I was a very nervous bride standing in front of everyone, and forgot which hand was my left and even started giggling during the ceremony, but Jon was patient and very professional as I worked my way through. Thank you, Jon, you are worth every penny! — Tanya, married on 10/08/2018″

“We had a great experience with Jon Turino. He was very nice and performed a beautiful wedding service for us. Our guests commented many times that they loved the scriptures he included and the nice things he said throughout the service. My three-year-old was being very silly the whole ceremony and kept picking up dropped flowers and insisted on standing with her Daddy and me during the ceremony and Jon just smiled at her and went with the flow of things. I definitely recommend him to anyone. He is amazing. — Kylie , married on 10/06/2018″

“Jon was absolutely the perfect officiant for our perfect day. We can’t imagine what it would have been like without him. From the start, he was so great about communication and answering all of our (many) questions. After we picked him, he was always available to answer any further questions that came up (ceremony, marriage license, etc.). As for the big day, he was everything we wanted and more. He worked with us on the service script, providing a fantastic blueprint, while being open to our suggestions and changes, while also beautifully reading some personal words we had written that we did not want to speak ourselves. As an aside, when my voice started to crack from emotion while reading our vows, Jon calmly and quietly whispered to me one word, “breathe.” I’ll never forget that. We received so many compliments from our guests about Jon. Thank you, Mr. Turino. — Paul, married on 08/18/2018″
